Experts from Garrigues and the academic world analyze company crises

On February 4 the next session of the Garrigues Chair will take place.

The rearrangement of the capital structure and of the corporate governance following a company crisis is the subject chosen for the next seminar of the Garrigues Chair in Modernization of Corporate Law of Universidad Pontificia de Comillas-ICADE. At this new event, which will take place on February 4 at the university’s Law Faculty, various partners from the firm will analyze, from various perspectives, the options of businesses with corporate problems.

Juan Verdugo and Adrián Thery, partners of the Restructuring and Insolvency Department of Garrigues, will present papers on The corporate interest of companies in crisis and duty shifting: role of directors and shareholders of companies in crisis and Cross-class cram-down and absolute priority rule, respectively. Together with them Eva Recamán, associate lecturer in Corporate and Commercial Law at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and Francisco J. Garcimartín, Professor of Private International Law at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, will also participate.

The seminar will also include a paper by Juana Pulgar, Professor of Corporate and Commercial Law at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, who will address the proposed European directive on insolvency proceedings, early business restructuring and second chance.

There will also be an opportunity for debate with two discussions chaired by Abel Veiga, associate lecturer in Corporate and Commercial Law at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas.

The seminar will be opened by Íñigo Navarro, Dean of the Law Faculty of ICADE, and Mónica Martín de Vidales, codirector of the Corporate and Commercial Law Department of Garrigues and codirector of the Garrigues Chair. It will be closed by Javier Ibáñez, codirector of the Chair.
