Abigail Blanco is a partner in the Tax Law department of Garrigues, a firm where she has pursued her professional career after moving from Arthur Andersen. She specializes in Tax Law, especially in the pharmaceutical and the hospitality and catering industries, but also and specifically in personal taxation (personal income tax, wealth tax, inheritance and gift tax), in M&A transactions and in taxation connected with advanced compensation systems and collective layoff procedures.
She is expert, among other areas, in the taxation of pharmaceutical and leisure (hospitality and catering) industry companies, with extensive knowledge of corporate taxation in general and of the specific characteristics of these companies, including reorganization M&A transactions, and in the analysis and proposal of solutions relating to the taxation of individuals and to taxation deriving from labor and employment issues (dismissals, hirings, changes to terms and conditions of employment, relocation of workers).
Abigail Blanco is a leading expert in tax inspections and in defending client interests both with the tax inspection authorities and the courts, including at the cassation stage and in State aid procedures brought by the European Commission and appeals filed with the Court of Justice of the EU.
She coordinates, with other professionals, the Garrigues Life Sciences and Heathcare Specialization Group. She also plays an active part in the Garrigues Hospitality and Catering Specialization Group.
Abigail Blanco is responsible for compiling Garrigues’ regular and one-off tax bulletins and newsletters.
She has taken part in innumerable courses and conferences on a wide variety of issues, and on a recurrent basis on the taxation of real estate, of advanced compensation systems, of worker dismissals and of professional firms. She also delivers lectures on several Master’s degree courses organized by Centro de Estudios Garrigues, and specifically and most recently on the EMBA, and she has repeatedly been involved in the Fundación Carolina Master’s Law Degree.
Abigail Blanco is also responsible for delivering training programs on personal income tax matters to the Firm’s new entrants.
She belongs to the Madrid Bar Association.

Abigail Blanco has a Degree in Law from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), a Degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (U.A.M.) and a Master’s degree in Territorial Policy and Planning from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
