Garrigues wins four awards at the 5th Edition of the Expansión Legal Awards

Garrigues was one of the biggest winners at the fifth edition of the Expansión Legal Awards for Excellence in Business Law Practice, hosted by the daily financial newspaper Expansión. The firm received four awards: Best firm in the Digital Economy sector, Most innovative project, Best Pro Bono initiative and Best transaction.

Best firm in the Digital Economy sector. The firm’s Digital economy team, known as Garrigues Digital, is advising clients in new ways, through agile and multidisciplinary teams organized around industries and hubs (FinTech, Platforms, Industry 4.0, CleanTech, eSports,  MediaTech and FashionTech), with a broad knowledge of the new business models and trends in the market. This team is made up of over 120 professionals worldwide, supported by the experience the firm has accumulated over the years, and during 2019, it participated in over 200 projects. The team also shares its knowledge through the web portal Garrigues Digital, in which it analyses from a legal perspective the latest developments in Economy 4.0.

The Most innovative project developed in Spain award was won by Agiliz@, an internal technological transformation initiative focusing on the design of tools, robots and automation processes, employing RPA and Artificial Intelligence in order to improve service quality standards and our response times for clients.

The Best Pro Bono initiative award was won for the advisory services provided to Fundación 29a Spanish not-for-profit organization which applies artificial intelligence and big data to medical information to accelerate the diagnosis of rare diseases all across the world. Coordinated by the Health Sciences team, Garrigues lawyers applied a multidisciplinary approach encompassing seven areas of law.

The Best transaction of the year award was for the takeover bid launched by Six Group for all the shares of BME, in which various firms were involved.
