Garrigues, Firm of the Year in Spain, and Fernando Vives, Lawyer of the Year in the Legal 500 Iberia Awards 2025

The prestigious international directory Legal 500 has named Garrigues Law Firm of the Year in Spain at the Iberia Awards 2025, where the firm also received the distinction of Real Estate Firm of the Year. In addition, Fernando Vives, the firm’s executive chairman, was honored with the Lawyer of the Year award.

Garrigues was also recognized with the Deal of the Year award for advising Idealista on the sale of 70% of its capital to the British fund Cinven by the firms EQT, Apax Partners and Oakley Capital, an operation valued at €2,925 million.

Meanwhile, João Lima Cluny, partner in charge of the criminal law practice area, internal investigations and compliance in Portugal, was distinguished as White-Collar Crime Next Generation Partner of the Year.

This is the first edition of these awards in the Iberian region, although they are an established fixture in countries such as China, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia.

So far this year, Garrigues has picked up several awards, including Most Innovative Law Firm in Europe at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards 2025; leading law firm in Spain according to The Legal 500 EMEA directory; best law firm of the year in Spain at the first edition of the Economist & Jurist Group Awards for Excellence in Legal Practice; Leading law firm in the EU in The Lawyer's European 100 ranking; and leading firm in Spain in the IFLR 1000 directory, which specializes in the Commercial and Finance areas.
