Garrigues consolidates its growing presence in Mexico and expands its offices, which now house a team of 30 professionals

Mexico -

Garrigues has bolstered its practice in Mexico and expanded its offices to meet the firm’s growing needs in the country. In just over three years, Garrigues has built a team of 30 professionals, including seven partners. The Mexico team has become a benchmark in the country, currently working in the areas of corporate law, M&A, banking and finance law, tax law, public law, infrastructure and energy, among others.

During 2017, the team was particularly active in the area of mergers and acquisitions, playing a key role in some of the country’s largest deals. The firm’s growing activity in Mexico also led to the promotion to partner of attorney Gabriela Pérez, an expert in M&A, banking and finance law and securities market law.

Pedro Saavedra, the partner in charge of the Mexico office, praised the quality of the firm’s professionals at the inauguration of the new offices located at Paseo de la Reforma, one of the city’s top financial districts: “The expansion of our offices reflects the success of our Mexican undertaking. We are very proud of the team we are building. As a firm, we are constantly growing stronger and more robust, while becoming a firm of choice for both Mexican and foreign businesses and institutions. Our goal in the country is to continue expanding and enhancing the services we offer to our clients.”

Garrigues’ value as a regional firm was also highlighted. Javier Ybáñez, the partner in charge of the firm’s Latin American practice, stated that all of the steps taken “help strengthen Garrigues’ position in the region, with teams working together to offer clients greater added value, not only locally in each country in which we are present, but also at regional level.” Speaking via video, Fernando Vives, executive chairman of Garrigues, emphasized the opportunities the firm offers to Mexican clients, thanks to its broad international network of own offices: “Our presence in five Latin American countries and in Europe unlocks synergies for our clients and ensures that they receive uniform advice, provided by a single firm applying the same high quality standards throughout.”

In addition to its Mexico City base, in Latin America Garrigues has offices in Bogotá, Santiago de Chile, Lima and São Paulo. Worldwide, Garrigues has offices in 13 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.
