Diego D’Alma specializes in international taxation in Spain and China and in processes for the internationalization of companies and the international mobility of executives and entrepreneurs. He has remained with Garrigues throughout his professional career, first at its Malaga office, where he advised on the international tax implications of foreign investments in Spain, and subsequently in China, where he currently heads the Firm's Chinese tax practice from its offices in Shanghai and Beijing.
His activity is centered on foreign investment in China, where he advises European and Latin American clients from a broad range of industries on a wide variety of projects, his expertise covering various areas of law related to such investments, such as international taxation, human capital services, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring processes and corporate law. He also advises on the foreign investment projects of Chinese companies, primarily in Europe and Latin America. His clients include multinational companies, SMEs and individual business undertakings.
He is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences on taxation and on the legal regime governing foreign investment in China, and also gives talks in relation to Chinese investments abroad, such as that which he gave at the invitation of Shanghai Municipal Trade Commission, in conjunction with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has lectured on taxation at the University of Malaga.
He is a member of the Firm's China Desk and of its International line. He is a member of the Malaga Bar Association
In 2013, Diego was named a Key Individual in the China Tax, Foreign Firms section of the Chambers & Partners Asia Pacific Guide. He was also singled out in the China Tax area of the Chambers and Legal 500 guides in 2014 and 2015.
Between 2010 and 2014, Diego served as National Chairman of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in China and has been one of the coordinators of its Legal Working Group since 2014.

He is a member of the Editorial Board of China Tax Intelligence, published by CCH, a body specializing in Chinese taxation of foreign investments, and is a regular contributor to the Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory and Tianjin Business Magazine. He has also has coauthored the book “Doing Business Safely in China”, published by LID Publishing, and the “Guía Práctica para la Inversión Española en China” (Practical Guide for Spanish Investment in China) published by Moneda Única.
