The new legal framework for cybersecurity in Portugal: what changes?

Portugal -

Portugal takes a decisive step to strengthen the protection of cyberspace and digital security with the entry into force of the new legal framework for cybersecurity.

The new legal framework for cybersecurity (finally) transposes NIS II Directive (which, in turn, repeals the previous NIS I Directive) into the national legal system, thus establishing the new legal framework applicable to cybersecurity.

The new legal diploma provides for stricter rules to ensure the security of networks and information systems and, in general, of cyberspace, imposing increased obligations on public and private entities. This regime thus aims to increase resilience against digital threats and promote a culture of prevention and effective response.
