Spain: MITECO submits to public information the new Work Program of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change
The programme will specify the climate change adaptation measures to be promoted by the General State Administration between 2026 and 2030.
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has submitted to public information the draft order by which the 2026-2030 Work Programme of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change will be adopted.
The programme will develop the second period of application of the plan and will define the measures to be promoted by the General State Administration over the next five years to prevent and reduce risks associated with climate change.
The planned actions cover, among other areas, health, water resources, biodiversity, agriculture, coasts, cities, infrastructure, energy, industry and the financial system.
The document is based on the 2025 Assessment of Risks and Impacts derived from Climate Change in Spain and specifies for each proposed measure the departments and units responsible, the expected benefits and the corresponding compliance indicators.
The deadline for submitting observations ended on July 14, 2026.
