Garrigues has reinforced its team with the hiring of two eminent female partners. Mónica Bolaños will form part of the Bogotá tax practice while Mireia del Pozo joins the Barcelona administrative and constitutional law practice. Both appointments, which will be submitted for approval to the next Partners’ Meeting, reflect the firm’s strategy of consolidating its position as a leading provider of business law advice.

Mónica Bolaños has over 17 years’ experience in the Colombian market, advising local and international businesses on corporate taxes, investment structures, finance, and mergers and acquisitions. She holds a degree in Public Accounting and Finance and a master’s degree in Economics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, as well as a Master of Advanced Studies in International Tax Law from Universiteit Leiden (The Netherlands) and specializes in international taxation and M&A in Colombia and the Andean region. She is currently a member of the Colombian branch of the Executive Committee of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and is chairman of the Technical, Accounting and Economic Academic Committee of the Colombian Tax Law Institute. Her incorporation reinforces the capacity of the Garrigues Tax Department, a benchmark in the different countries where it operates, to offer the global advice increasingly demanded by businesses.

Mireia del Pozo, who holds a law degree from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and a professional master’s degree in planning and zoning studies from the School of Public Administration of the Catalan Regional Government, returns to Garrigues –where she started out and spent most of her career (1999-2018) at the Barcelona Administrative Law Department– after a spell co leading her own boutique zoning law firm. With over 20 years’ experience in public law, she specializes in the planning, zoning, and real estate sectors. She is a regular lecturer on numerous master’s degree and postgraduate programs in zoning law and a respected professional in the public and private sector.
