Felipe González is the partner in charge of Garrigues’ Málaga office and head of the Tax Law department at the office.

With more than twenty-five years of experience, he carries out his professional activity in the field of national and international taxation, with extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring processes, and ongoing tax advisory services for both domestic and international groups.

He is the head of the Transfer Pricing Group in the Andalusia, Extremadura and Canary Islands region and is also a member of Garrigues’ International Service Line. He also advises family groups and high-net-worth individuals, both domestic and international, on their wealth and succession planning strategies.

Felipe has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Tax Law in Málaga, having been named on several occasions, including in 2025, as “Lawyer of The Year” by the Best Lawyers directory.

Experience

Felipe González joined Garrigues in September 1998 and has pursued his entire professional career at the firm. In 2009, he was promoted to Partner.

He is a specialist in Tax Law and has extensive experience advising multinational companies and foreign investors with interests in Spain, serving as the lead tax counsel for major multinational groups with respect to their investments in Spanish territory. He has represented these multinational companies in tax audit proceedings before the Spanish tax authorities, as well as in contentious-administrative proceedings before the courts.

In the area of Transfer Pricing, he has advised on the design and implementation of Transfer Pricing global policies for numerous corporate groups, as well as on tax audits, Mutual Agreement Procedures under the European Union Arbitration Convention and various Double Taxation Treaties, Advance Pricing Agreements, and corporate restructuring processes.

He has vast experience advising Spanish groups on the planning and implementation of their international expansion. He has also advised on numerous M&A transactions and corporate reorganizations.

Additionally, throughout his professional career, he has also advised family groups on their wealth planning and the structuring of their succession strategies, addressing complex cases with international elements.

  • Law Degree, Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE E-3), Madrid, 1991-1996.
  • Degree in Economics and Business Administration, Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE E-3), Madrid, 1991-1997.
  • Degree in Senior Management, Instituto Internacional San Telmo, Executive Programs: AD1 - 2010-2011 and ADEL – 2017.

Teaching activity

Felipe has been a faculty member in international taxation training programs organized by the TAXAND international network of tax law firms and at the ESESA Business School. He is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences organized both by the firm and by various institutions, including: AEDAF, ICEX, San Telmo, the Málaga Bar Association, the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Málaga, the Technology Park of Andalusia, the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Provincial Council of Granada.

Publications

Co-author of “Sports Law in Spain 1975-2005,” Ignacio Jiménez Soto and Estanislao Arana García (editors), chapter “Sports Law and Tax Law,” published in November 2005 in Seville by the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Sports of the Regional Government of Andalusia.

He has published numerous articles and contributions on taxation in various national media (Diario SUR, Vida Económica, Ideal, etc.) and international publications (International Tax Review).
