Sebastián Barros is a partner in the Corporate and M&A area of Garrigues’ Santiago office. His practice focuses on advising domestic and international companies on corporate law matters, including shareholder agreements, corporate governance, commercial contracts and corporate reorganizations. He also provides advice on corporate compliance programs and models, internal investigations and personal data protection matters, with a special emphasis on anti-corruption and legal risk mitigation. He has experience supporting clients in their day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance and dealings with the authorities. He holds a degree in law from Universidad de Los Andes, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Corporate Tax and an LL.M. from University College London.
Experience
His practice focuses on advising domestic and international companies on corporate law matters, including M&A transactions, shareholder agreements, corporate governance and corporate reorganizations. He has provided advice to companies across a range of industries, including most notably agriculture, real estate, technology, financial, logistics, infrastructure and cybersecurity, as well as domestic and international investment funds.
He also has extensive experience in the practice areas of Criminal Law and Internal Investigations and Data Economy, Privacy and Cybersecurity, advising on the design and implementation of corporate compliance programs and models, internal investigations and legal risk mitigation, with a special emphasis on anti-corruption.
Before joining Garrigues as a partner, he was a partner at Barros Silva Varela & Vigil (2020 – 2026), where he had also served as a senior associate (2017 – 2024). Previously, he was an associate at Vial y Cía (2010 – 2017).
He is fluent in Spanish and English.
