María Paula is senior associate of the M&A and Corporate Department. She is Colombian admitted attorney with a minor in management specialization in Business Law from the Universidad de Los Andes, and a LL.M. University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She focuses his practice on commercial law, corporate law, and commercial contracts. During her more than 8 years of experience, she has supported international and national clients in their landing in Colombia, corporate decision making, reorganization processes, and general legal advice She also has experience in merger and acquisitions operations, participating in important local and cross boarding transactions.
Experience
María Paula has extensive experience in corporate, commercial law and foreign exchange law. She has successfully led and managed significant projects and transactions for both domestic and international clients, particularly in the education, mining and energy, and retail sectors. Her experience includes assistance in corporate matters, corporate governance, non-profit entities, structuring and implementation of reorganization processes, due diligence processes, planning and implementation of commercial intermediation schemes, and Education law. In addition, María Paula has experience in wealth management assisting important local clients in the structuring and implementation of efficient corporate structures to to ensure proper estate planning and protect family assets.
During her experience she has advice important multinational companies in their landing in Colombia, and the development of their daily business.
Before joining Garrigues, María Paula worked for many years in two of the biggest and most important Colombian law firms.
She is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
