She has extensive experience providing advice on foreign trade and customs transactions to domestic and international companies from a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, electronic, metallurgy and iron and steel, food and drink, retail, cosmetics, tobacco and alcoholic beverages, among others.
She provides comprehensive legal advice on tariff classifications, rules of origin and origin-related matters, the analysis of international treaties, trade incentive programs such as IMMEX and PROSEC, importer registers, VAT certification programs, labeling regulations, compliance with Mexican Official Standards, and other matters related to foreign trade.
She also advises clients on health regulations, retail chain strategies and operations, customs clearance procedures, foreign trade due diligences, customs administrative proceedings, on-site inspections, conclusive agreements and foreign trade litigation, working closely with customs agents, clients, technical teams, and the relevant competent authorities to resolve legal and regulatory contingencies.
She participates in the structuring of foreign trade transactions for companies that commence operations in Mexico, which involves obtaining registrations, IMMEX programs, VAT certifications, the review and compliance with non-tariff regulations and restrictions (permits, authorizations, among others) before the relevant competent authorities, as well as advising on compliance with the applicable Official Mexican Standards.
In addition, she provides recurring advice to clients on transactions related to highly regulated products and services subject to oversight by the Ministry of Health (COFEPRIS), the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SENASICA), and other regulatory authorities, ranging from importation, manufacture, storage, and distribution to labeling and transport of the products.
She is fluent in Spanish, English and German.
