Fernanda is a lawyer with experience in foreign trade and customs duties, specializing in regulatory compliance, import transactions and tax and customs defense.
She has experience in obtaining registration on the importers' register and industry-specific import registers, and in origin verifications, product classification and regulation, commercial labeling requirements, as well as in the management of import permits and foreign trade incentive programs. Additionally, she advises clients in administrative proceedings before customs authorities, including customs administrative proceedings (PAMA), appeals for reconsideration, SAT desk audits, and actions for annulment.
She also participates in due diligence processes focused on foreign trade, identifying regulatory risks and customs contingencies in corporate transactions. She has been involved in matters related to a range of industries, including textiles, food and drink, steel and tobacco.
Experience
She began her professional career at Sanchez Devanny in 2022 as a trainee. Following the firm's merger with Garrigues and upon obtaining her law degree, she joined the firm as a lawyer, where she has developed a comprehensive practice advising domestic and international companies on regulatory compliance and the strategic planning of foreign trade transactions.
She has experience in obtaining registration on the importers' register and industry-specific import registers, as well as in analyzing and monitoring compliance with non-tariff regulations and restrictions applicable to goods. Her practice includes origin verification procedures, tariff classification, product regulatory compliance, and commercial labeling requirements, as well as the management of import permits and foreign trade incentive programs, including matters related to IMMEX (Manufacturing, Maquila and Export Services Industry Program)
She provides comprehensive advice on administrative proceedings before the customs authorities, including customs administrative proceedings (PAMA), appeals for reconsideration, SAT desk audits, and actions for annulment, participating in the definition of defense and risk-mitigation strategies. She also participates in due diligence processes focused on foreign trade, assessing regulatory risks, identifying customs contingencies and proposing corrective measures in the context of corporate transactions.
She has advised companies from a range of industries, including textiles, food and drink, steel and tobacco, gaining experience in the practical application of customs legislation in highly regulated industries.
