Alfonso Cárcamo Gil is a partner in the Corporate and Commercial department of Garrigues.
He specializes in mergers and acquisitions transactions, involving both listed and unlisted companies. He also has extensive experience holding office as secretary of boards of directors and in the field of alternative investment.
He provides advice on an ongoing basis on banking and securities market supervision and regulation.
Experience
Alfonso Cárcamo Gil began his career by joining the Government Lawyers Corps in 2002, being appointed to a variety of positions in the High Court of Justice of Madrid and in the National Appellate Court.
He served as secretary of the CNMV Board between 2010 and 2012, and between 2012 and 2015, as secretary of the steering Committee of the FROB (Spanish orderly bank restructuring fund).
After taking voluntary leave of absence, he served as secretary general and secretary to the board of Banco Mare Nostrum (BMN) and headed the Legal Advisory Department of Bankia.
He worked for Cerberus Capital Management from 2018 to 2020, coinciding with the materialization of its most important investments in Spain.
In recent years, he has practiced law in the field of private equity (alternative investment), executing a variety of M&A transactions and serving as secretary to the boards of different listed and unlisted corporate vehicles. He regularly advises on issues related to banking supervision and regulation or related to securities markets and the provision of investment services.
He speaks Spanish and English.
