VT - Simplification of the Automotive Taxation System
Decree-Law no. 53/2017, of 31 May was officially published, which amends the Vehicle Tax Code, dematerializing the declaratory formalities for all taxable persons.
Through this decree-law, the obligation to submit on paper a set of documentation at the competent customs is replaced by the electronic presentation of copies of the relevant documentation, including the Complementary Declaration of Vehicles ("CDV"), which is now issued electronically with the exception of the declaration concerning the transformation of vehicles, changes in the number of chassis or displacement or other taxable events occurring after the national registration has been granted. The obligation relating to the Supplementary Vehicle Declaration is also eliminated.
This decree-law shall enter into force on July 1st 2017.
