Portugal: Work accident pensions increase by 2.80% in 2026
The value of pensions for accidents at work is updated annually, in line with the evolution of Portuguese GDP and the 12‑month average change of the CPI in Portugal.
The evolution of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the 12‑month average change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) resulted in a 2,80% increase in pensions for accidents at work.
According to law, the value of pensions for accidents at work is updated annually, in line with the evolution of Portuguese GDP and the 12‑month average change of the CPI in Portugal (excluding housing costs) over the previous two years.
As a result, Ordinance n.º 480-C/2025/1, of December 30th was published in Portugal’s Official Gazette, updating for 2026 the pensions for permanent disability and death due to accidents at work to the amount resulting from the application of the 2.80% increase percentage.
