Portugal: Indexing reference for social benefits updated to € 537,13 in 2026

This index is the reference for several social security benefits.
The evolution of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the 12‑month average change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) resulted in a 2,80% increase in the indexing reference for social benefits, setting it at € 537,13 for the year 2026.
So, Ordinance n.º 480-A/2025/1, of December 30th was published in Portugal’s Official Gazette, increasing the indexing reference for social benefits in 14,63 euros, from € 522,50 (in 2025) to € 537,13 (in 2026).
The indexing reference for social aid is the reference used to establish, calculate and update several social security aids, such as unemployment benefit.
