Mexico: New Labor Complaints and Accident Reporting System Launched

Mexico -

On September 4, 2025, Mexico's Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) introduced the Labor Complaints and Accidents System (SIQAL), a digital platform for reporting labor violations and workplace accidents. As detailed in Bulletin 36/25, published by the Government of Mexico, this system serves as a direct communication channel between employees and labor authorities.

It enables individuals to anonymously report complaints about rights violations, poor working conditions, or accidents, while streamlining authorities’ responses.

SIQAL represents a significant advancement in modernizing labor rights protections. It empowers employees to assert their rights more effectively and encourages employers to enhance compliance with Mexican labor laws. By facilitating quicker inspections and interventions, the platform helps prevent workplace risks, address irregularities, and impose sanctions on non-compliant employers.

Key issues that can be reported through SIQAL include:

  • Violations of employees' rights or working conditions.
  • Lack of workplace training or instruction.
  • Failure to report accidents to the STPS or relevant institutions.
  • Conditions that endanger employees' physical integrity or health.
  • Non-compliance with individual or collective labor agreements.

Complaints filed by employees will be anonymous, enabling labor authorities to initiate workplace inspections and even procedures to correct irregularities, prevent risks in the workplace, and to impose sanctions on non-compliant employers.

For employers, awareness and adherence to Mexican labor regulations are now more critical than ever. Proactive compliance not only mitigates the risk of sanctions but also fosters a safer, fairer, and more productive work environment.
