‘LatinFinance’ recognizes Garrigues for its advice on the projects that will shape infrastructure development in Latin America

The Garrigues teams in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru garnered a total of five awards for their work on large-scale projects for the region

The four Garrigues offices in Latin America “hit the jackpot” last night in New York in the LatinFinance Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards, which select and recognize the most important infrastructure projects in the region each year. In total, they won five awards, including one of the most important of the event: Infrastructure Financing of the Year: Latin America, given for the expansion of Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, on which the Garrigues Peru team advised. This project won two awards, as it also received the highest recognition in the category of Airport Financing of the Year. The other three awards and their respective teams and categories were for the Aguas Horizonte project, in which Garrigues Chile participated (Loan of the Year); Puerto de Chancay, also advised on by the team in Peru (Port Financing of the Year); and the ODATA purchase financing, on which all four teams from Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru worked (Digital Infrastructure Financing of the Year)..

Besides the award shared by the four Garrigues offices, the Lima team received another three awards, two for the financing for the expansion of Lima's Jorge Chávez Airport, the most important in Peru, for a value of 1,250 million dollars. It is a big step forward in the development of airport infrastructure in the country. In Peru, the Chancay port project also won an award. This is first private port for public use in the country, and it will become a regional trade hub and a South American maritime node to Asia and Oceania.

In Chile, the Garrigues lawyers advised on the financing project of Aguas Horizonte for the construction of a desalination plant in the northern part of the country, which will supply water to the State mine Codelco and will contribute to more sustainable mining. Lastly, in the area of digital infrastructure, an award was won for the financing for the acquisition of ODATA, a Latin American data company, by the US company Aligned Data Centers, thereby securing its presence in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay and Chile. The four Garrigues teams in Latin America participated in this financing, amounting to 1,225 million dollars, a clear example of the firm’s regional capacity and specialization in the areas of financing and projects and infrastructure.
