The Government approves a new Labor and Social Security Inspection Strategy running until 2027
It is built around 17 objectives stretching across the various areas of activity of labor and social security inspectors and contemplates an increase in inspector and subinspector numbers, investment in improving technology and the creation of a digital forensics laboratory for obtaining digital evidence.
The Council of Ministers gave their approval on August 26, 2025 to the new 2025-2027 Labor and Social Security Inspection Strategy setting out a plan structured in two parts containing 17 objectives:
- The first part relates to inspection activities and defines the priority focus areas around 10 objectives covering individual and collective relations between workers and employers, occupational health and safety, equality and non-discrimination, promotion and protection of employment and combating undeclared work.
- The second part identifies structural, organizational and operational measures.
It charts an increase in labor inspector and subinspector numbers (554 more), as well as in technical and administrative staff, and aims to strengthen their skills and permanent training to improve their specialization.
A large investment in improving technology is described in the new strategy along with the creation of a digital forensics laboratory specializing in obtaining digital evidence by using digital forensics techniques to examine computer systems. Additionally, new algorithm rules will be created to monitor fraud using the counter fraud tool and investigative activities will be stepped up due to a large-scale cross-checking of data.
