Tomás Pessanha is a partner in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate and Commercial Contracts at Garrigues in Oporto.
He has over 20 years’ professional experience advising companies and institutional investors, both national and foreign, on matters relation to corporate law, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital and restructuring. Before joining Garrigues, he worked at PLMJ, in Oporto, for over 17 years, and for the last 12 as partner head of the Corporate / M&A area, having played an active role in some of the most important transactions in Portugal, Mozambique and Angola.
Tomás Pessanha is frequently mentioned in various directories, such as Chambers & Partners; The Legal 500 (Hall of Fame); IFLR1000; Best Lawyers and Who’s Who Legal. In 2009, his name appeared in the 40 under Forty Awards of Iberian Lawyer.
He has also acted as guest lecturer on several postgraduate courses at the Porto Business School.
He is a member of the IBA - International Bar Association.
He has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1997.
