Support for foreigners in the Anti-Crisis Shield

Poland -

When developing the Anti-Crisis Shield project, the government also took into account the difficult situation of foreigners staying in Poland during a pandemic and some of the new provisions are intended to make life easier for those who are waiting for a decision on a permit to stay in Poland or cannot return to their country.

The so-called "Anti-Crisis Shield" is also concerned with foreigners. The deadline for submitting an application for a temporary residence permit, permanent residence permit and a residence permit for a long-term EU resident who falls within the period of an epidemic emergency or state of epidemics is extended until the 30th day following the date of cancellation of an epidemic emergency or state of epidemics, respectively. This should be understood as meaning that the foreigner's stay will be legal during this period if the foreigner submits an appropriate application for a residence permit within the prescribed period.

A similar solution applies to residence permits already granted - they are automatically extended until the 30th day following the date of cancellation of a state of epidemic/epidemic emergency.

The Act also extends the period of validity of visas if the last day of the period of stay on the basis of a national visa falls within the period of a state of  epidemic/emergency. These visas have been extended until the 30th day following the date of cancellation of an epidemic/epidemic emergency respectively. This extension is by law and it is not required to affix a new visa sticker in the travel document.
