Sebastián Fuentes earned his law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, where he graduated first in his class and received academic distinctions for achieving the highest grades in both Public Law and Criminal Law. He also holds an LL.M. from New York University (NYU). He joined Garrigues in 2025 as a Senior Associate after nearly ten years of practice at Carey y Cía.

His experience focuses on dispute resolution, including both litigation and arbitration, domestic and international, under various rules and before different institutions, spanning a broad range of matters and industries, including corporate and commercial disputes, construction, infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and agribusiness, among others. Recently, he represented a multinational company acting as employer in the construction of a photovoltaic park in a USD 200 million ICC arbitration. He also represented a contractor in a USD 30 million arbitration arising out of the construction of one of the Santiago Metro lines. In addition, he has experience in insolvency proceedings, including both restructuring and liquidation, representing debtors and creditors.
