Pablo has over 13 years’ experience in administrative law and regulatory practice. During this time, he has advised national and international clients on several matters, such as anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, administrative liability, government financial liability, health law, consumer protection, e-commerce, gambling, operation of commercial establishments, urban development, mobility, ports and national waters, among others.
As part of his professional practice, he has handled various administrative proceedings, including those for verification and imposition of penalties, the pursuit of judicial review claims for annulment of acts of authorities, as well as constitutional protection (“amparo”) lawsuits against actions and omissions of authorities and general regulations that violate the legal rights of individuals.
Experience
Pablo Chevez is a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution: Litigation and Arbitration practice. He has extensive experience in strategic litigation in administrative, constitutional and regulatory matters, representing companies and individuals in highly complex cases of national importance.
He led the representation of clients in indirect constitutional protection (“amparo”) lawsuits, such as contesting the revocation by the CRE (Mexican Energy Regulation Commission) of permits to operate wind farms, the defense against state laws and municipal regulations which prohibited the use of drinking straws in Sinaloa, and disputes relating to the Law on Transparency, Prevention and Combatting of Improper Practices in Contracting Advertising.
He has experience in judicial review proceedings, such as the defense against penalties relating to the assignment of port rights and fines imposed by PROFECO (Federal Consumer Protection Agency).
He has represented companies in various sectors, including Private Transport Platforms in constitutional protection lawsuits and litigation arising from local regulations and significant fines, a motor company in an environmental lawsuit relating to inspections for compliance with environmental standards (dieselgate), and the litigation against the inclusion of the most expensive medicine in the world in the basic coverage of the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute).
In addition, he has worked in cases of social importance, such as the representation of residents affected by the 2017 earthquake in constitutional protection lawsuits against demolition orders due to prior omissions of the authorities.
His experience facilitates a strategic and technical approach in the resolution of complex problems, with an in-depth knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework in Mexico.
