Miguel Mendez is a Partner in the Litigation and Arbitration Department in Garrigues´ Canary Islands office.

He focuses on litigation relating to complex corporate/commercial and civil matters, particularly corporate disputes and Director´s liability disputes; construction disputes, Industrial Property and unfair competition related issues. Miguel also has extensive experience in advising clients of the tourism sector in all kinds of litigation related to their activity. He has represented a large number of clients in arbitration proceedings and he is currently an arbitrator of the Arbitration Courts of the Chambers of Commerce of Las Palmas and Lanzarote.

Miguel has experience in corporate restructuring, refinancing and insolvency proceedings. He has assisted debtors and creditors (mainly financial institutions) in most of the major restructuring and insolvency proceedings which have taken place in the Canary Islands in the recent years. He has been very active in multiple operations related to sales or acquisitions of NPLs and all type of distressed asset

He is a lecturer in Insolvency & Restructuring and Procedural Law in different academic institutions and he is a regular speaker at seminars and courses organized by Garrigues and other specialist centers, and he is a regular contributor to various media outlets and journals.

Miguel is a member of the Las Palmas Bar Association.
