Esther Zamarriego is a Of Counsel in the Tax Law practice area of Garrigues, the firm in which she has pursued her professional career. She specializes in Tax Law, focusing primarily on tax disputes, and has been involved in cases before the various Spanish Courts, include the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court, as well as procedures before European courts, such as the European Court of Justice.

Her work in relation to one of such cases earned her a special mention under the Dispute Resolution category of the 2012  Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards, in which Garrigues was named the most Innovative Law Firm in Continental Europe. 

In 2016, she featured in the annual Women In Tax Leaders ranking which is published annually by International Tax Review.  She was also mentioned in the 2017 Tax Controversy Leaders Guide.

She is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences organized by the Firm and is on the teaching staff of Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
