Ana has a degree in Law from Universidad de Lima, and a Master's degree (LL.M.) in International Business & Economic Law from Georgetown University. She has more than 10 years of experience providing advice to national and international entities on tax, corporate and financial matters, with an emphasis on infrastructure and projects.
Experience
Ana Sousa is a senior associate in the Tax department. She has extensive experience advising local and international clients on tax matters, mainly in the construction, real estate, mining, services, retail and financial sectors, and she has also participated in concession agreements with the Peruvian government and public-private associations. Ana has participated in different tax planning projects, corporate restructurings, financing operations, mergers and acquisitions, the application of the VAT early recovery system and the application of international tax treaties.
Before joining Garrigues, Ana worked at several law firms in Lima, having held the position of senior lawyer in the Tax Consulting area of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). She has also worked as a consulting lawyer for the Legal Department of Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) in Washington D.C.
