Alba Santos is a senior associate in the criminal law practice at the Barcelona office.
She has extensive experience in all kinds of criminal proceedings, particularly those involving offenses against the public treasury, financial and corporate offenses, offenses against natural resources and the environment, offenses against worker safety and workers’ rights, and offenses against the public authorities.
Experience
Her practice has focused particularly on corporate crime, joining Garrigues in 2008.
She has acted for the defense and for the private prosecution in court proceedings at all instances in the criminal jurisdiction and in out-of-court negotiations.
She provides recurring advice to companies on the design and implementation of crime risk management systems with a view to preventing, detecting and, where necessary, correcting offenses that may occur within a business organization.
Lawyer authorized to act in the juvenile courts and specializing in prison law.
Academic background
- Degree in Law, Universitat Pompeu Fabra (1997-2001).
- Master’s Degree in Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences (with honors). Universitat Pompeu Fabra – Universitat de Barcelona. (2001-2006).
- Specialist course in Corporate Compliance ESADE, Faculty of Law (2018).
Teaching activity
She has lectured on the Master’s Degree in Forensic Document Examination and Graphology at Universitat de Barcelona, as well as on the Second Course in Investigation Practices (CPOI), 2010, at Col.legi Oficial de Detectius Privats de Catalunya.
She has also tutored on the Executive Master’s Degree in Business Law at Centro de Estudio Garrigues (2009-2010 and 2010-2011).
