Adriana Katz is a senior associate of the Administrative Law Department of Garrigues and joined the firm in 2009. She specializes in the areas of Administrative Law and Environmental Law. She has extensive experience in advising companies and public authorities on a wide range of matters relating to Administrative Law, Environmental Law and regulated sectors (particularly in the area of renewable energy and gaming). She qualified as a lawyer at Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (2001), and holds a Law Degree from Universidad de Alcalá de Henares (2009) and a Master’s Degree in Administrative Law from Universidad Austral (2005), a Master’s Degree in Public Law from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2008) and an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Law from Centro de Estudios Garrigues (2010). She has published various articles, notably including articles published on new developments in online gaming legislation in Spain. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
Experience
Adriana Katz began her career at the firm in 2009. She previously worked in the Administrative Law Department at Abeledo Gottheil Abogados (Buenos Aires).
She has extensive experience in providing legal advice to domestic and international companies, as well as to the public authorities in a wide range of matters relating to Administrative and Regulatory Law, including:
- Administrative and judicial review proceedings in a broad range of areas (penalty proceedings, environmental issues, defense of consumers and users, product labeling, industrial safety, among others).
- Subsidy revocation and reimbursement procedures.
- Advice in the area of the environment and its various facets (waste, water, noise, air emissions, contaminated land, among others).
- Advice on public procurement matters.
- Advice on matters relating to electricity from renewable sources, acting on a recurring basis in numerous queries and transactions involving the acquisition, sale and financing of assets of this nature.
- Advice on the legal regime governing mines.
- Advice to multinational companies on the administrative, regulatory and environmental aspects of implementing large-scale projects in Spain.
She regularly participates in due diligences with an Administrative and Regulatory Law component,.
Lastly, she has a wealth of experience in gaming matters, an area in which she provides ongoing advice to companies with gaming and betting establishments (in-person gaming) and to online gaming operators (including procedures for securing online gaming licenses, penalty proceedings initiated by the Directorate-General of Gaming in the area of advertising and responsible gaming, among others), as well as advice to entities that certify technical gaming systems.
She is fluent in Spanish (native), English and Catalan.
