Garrigues ranked Tax Firm of the Year in Spain and Portugal, according to 'World Tax 2007'

Garrigues has earned recognition as Tax Firm of the Year in Spain and Portugal according to the rankings published in World Tax 2007, a survey prepared each year by Legal Media Group. The survey was based on the opinions of corporate tax directors and managers and an analysis of the transactions on which the firms operating in this field have acted in their respective countries.

In Spain, Garrigues is the firm with the most professionals given special mentions in the different practice areas covered in the report: Ricardo Gómez-Barreda in ‘Capital markets and financial products’ and ‘M&A’; Abelardo Delgado and Ángel Calleja in ‘Transfer pricing’; Eduardo Gardeta in ‘Indirect taxes’; and Enrique Fonseca in ‘Tax controversy’.

Garrigues’ tax practice in Portugal (which started up a few months ago with the hiring of Fernando Castro Silva and his team) has already won recognition from Legal Media Group, which has included the practice in the top tier of firms, alongside the tax practices of the big four audit firms, among others.

Garrigues’ tax practice in Spain and Portugal currently has 540 professionals, of whom 74 are partners.

Garrigues is also a founding member of Taxand, the world’s first global alliance of independent and specialist tax firms. The alliance currently boasts more than 1,500 professionals from 31 tax firms located in as many countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa.
