Delos Dispute Resolution has analyzed 54 national jurisdictions and identified a total of 32 safe seats for the practice of arbitration.

The arbitration institution Delos Dispute Resolution is currently on an international roadshow presenting the guide to safe arbitration places, and has chosen the Garrigues Madrid office for its presentation in Spain. The guide, referred to as the GAP (Guide to Arbitration Places), analyzes 54 national jurisdictions, identifying a total of 32 safe seats, in addition to three emerging safe seats: Bucharest, in Romania; Road Town, on the British Virgin Islands, and La Valetta, in Malta.

The following are the 32 safe seats that received all-green traffic lights for all criteria assessed by the GAP: Amsterdam, Auckland, Berlin, Calgary, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Geneva, The Hague, Hamburg, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Miami, Montreal, Munich, Nueva York, Oslo, Ottawa, Paris, Port Louis, Oporto, Rotterdam, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver, Vienna and Zurich.

The factors valued by the guide in each territory include matters such as the legislation applicable to the arbitration process, the possibility of the award being rendered void and the validity of the arbitration agreement.

The analysis of each jurisdiction was prepared by recognized arbitration professionals from the area, providing practical information and advice for those unfamiliar with the seat in question. In the case of Spain, the analysis was performed by Carlos de los Santos, Margarita Soto and Elisa Vicente, all from the Litigation and Arbitration Department of Garrigues.

The Delos institution, with headquarters in Paris, was formed in 2014 with a view to providing time and cost efficient arbitration solutions.
