CNMV decides not to extend the short selling ban
Spanish regulator, CNMV decided yesterday not to extend the ban on short selling that expired on January 31, 2013, which had already been extended twice from July 23, 2012. CNMV imposed such restrictions due to the exceptional circumstances of the Spanish financial system.
It now considers that such circumstances have changed and therefore CNMV agreed not to extend the ban in accordance to Regulation (EU) No 236/2012 and with the procedure established by ESMA.
