Ramón Tejada Fernández
Ramón Tejada is a partner in the Tax Department of Garrigues and is head of one of the tax practice groups in Madrid. He is joint nationwide head of Garrigues’ “Banks and Savings Banks” multidisciplinary group.
He is an expert in, inter alia, the taxation of financial institutions and insurance companies, as well as in all tax aspects relating to capital markets and financial products. He is the lawyer of choice for the main Spanish and foreign financial institutions operating in those markets.
Worthy of special mention is his work as adviser to major multinational groups with a presence in Spain, usually Fortune 500 and FT 500 companies.
He provides recurring legal advice on regulatory, tax and corporate matters relating to the main M&A and internal restructuring transactions performed by such entities, as well as by private equity firms, investment funds (national and international) and industry operators. Furthermore, he provides on-going assistance on tax law matters to the main private banking entities in Spain and abroad.
Ramón Tejada is an expert in drawing up and implementing financing models and financial products, with special focus on the provision of advice to financial institutions on matters as diverse as hybrid products (preferred shares, participating loans, etc.) or the full spectrum of structured and syndicated financing and issues.
He has participated in various projects as part of the reorganization of the Spanish financial industry.
Ramón is a member of various international groups of lawyers including Tax Net, TaxAnd, the World Services Group and the Private Equity Group, and is Garrigues’ representative at the “Madrid Centro Financiero” cluster forming part of the “Madrid Network”.
He has been named as one of Spain’s standout tax lawyers in various national and international directories such as Chambers, Legal 500, Martindale, International Who’s Who of Corporate Tax Lawyers and Best Lawyers (the annual ranking of lawyers published by the newspaper Expansión).
He lectured on international tax planning (in English) in the 6th year of the Excelens Joint Degree in Law and in Economics and Business offered by Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (CADE), Madrid, between 2004 and 2007. He lectures on business taxation in the 5th year of the Business Administration Degree at the same university. He has also taught on various occasions at ICADE and on the Taxation Master’s Degree and Advanced Taxation Course offered by Centro de Estudios GARRIGUES.

Has organized numerous seminars on international taxation and courses on the taxation of financial products for a range of financial institutions, as well as specific courses on the tax planning of mergers and acquisitions.
Ramón Tejada has been a member of Madrid Bar Association since 1993.
