Mónica Arizti is the partner in charge of technical services in Garrigues’ Industrial Property Department, the firm in which she has pursued her professional career following a stint at the European Patent Office. She specializes in the provision of strategic technical advice on the creation, management and use of industrial property rights, both in Spain and abroad.

Thanks to her academic training and experience as a patent examiner at the European Patent Office, she is an expert in the management of technical projects relating to technological developments in the fields of biotechnology, pharmacy, nutrition and chemistry.

Her core area of activity centers on providing advice to tech companies, as well as public and private research institutions specializing in the design and optimization of the strategy involved in the creation, processing and management of industrial property rights at a national, European and international level.

She provides ongoing advice on technology transfer processes, the assessment of the technical aspects associated with industrial property, due diligence processes, freedom to operate and technical audits.

She provides technical support to the IP legal department on patent infringement and nullity proceedings, preparing reports and acting as technical expert in such proceedings.

Mónica Arizti is a member of the Association of Industrial Property Agents (COAPI) and also belongs to the main Spanish and international industrial property associations, including Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle (AIPPI).

She is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences staged by the firm and an array of specialist centers raising awareness of industrial property-related matters.

Academic background:

Degree in Biochemistry from Universidad del País Vasco (UPV) and Industrial Property Agent.
