“As climate changes, only a few have learned how to transform the challenges into real opportunities. Carrying out voluntary actions such as quality GHG emission offsetting is among those practices that are not compulsory, but then very relevant in a climate change framework where putting effort up-front is going to take leadership” comment Antonio Baena and Lluis Esquerra, Partners Head of the consulting and legal Climate Change practice.

"Obtaining the certificate ‘Marca AENOR Emisiones de CO2 Compensadas’ (CO2 Emissions Offset) by Carbon Expo 2009 event demonstrates the willingness of the international even to neutralize the issue of greenhouse gases, becoming an example for businesses and organizations that will host during its celebration" explains José Luis Tejera, AENOR Development Manager.

The Project chosen by Garrigues to perform the offsetting is a 29.7 MW wind farm located in Karnataka, India, which was registered as a CDM on the 20th November 2008 . The carbon credits used for the offsetting will be pre-CDM credits, from the 2008 vintage and according to the VCS standard (2007 version). The developer of the project is Acciona Wind Energy Pvt.
