Marta Clemente is a principal associate in the Banking and Finance practice of the Garrigues Corporate/Commercial Law Department. Her practice centers on advising on all kinds of financing transactions, with a special focus on leveraged finance and asset finance, as well as infrastructure projects. As part of her expertise, she has in-depth knowledge of the regulatory requirements regarding collateral established in the context of the Capital Requirements Regulation, providing ongoing advice to EU financial institutions in the analysis of their transactions secured by insurers and export credit agencies. She holds a Degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, and has been based at both the Madrid and New York offices of the firm.

Marta Clemente is a principal associate in the Banking and Finance practice of the Corporate/Commercial Law Department and joined Garrigues in 2009. Since joining the firm, she has participated in a wide range of financing transactions, such as:
Asset finance, notably including transactions for the financing of hotel acquisitions as well as deals for the refinancing and recapitalization of hotel portfolios.
Leveraged finance, with a special focus on advising the purchaser (mainly private equity funds).
Infrastructure finance, in both the construction and operating phases, with or without a concession component.
Distressed financing and refinancing transactions, in close collaboration with the firm’s Restructuring and Insolvency Department.
Energy project finance.
Foreign financing transactions with Spanish ties as regards the parties, assets or security provided, in close collaboration with legal advisers in multiple jurisdictions.

Marta also has experience in the sale and purchase of loan portfolios, advising purchasers on both the acquisition process and its financing, as well as in the design of internal portfolio management mechanisms.
