
Angel Piñeiro is the partner in charge of the Litigation and Arbitration practice in Galicia, and the coordinator and head at the Vigo office of the Restructuring and Insolvency, Criminal Law and Sports & Entertainment practices. From 1992 to 1998, he worked at several prestigious law firms in the city of Vigo before joining Garrigues & Andersen in 1998. He made partner at Garrigues Abogados y Asesores Tributarios in 2003 and currently has the above responsibilities.
He is a lawyer specializing in litigation, arbitration, restructuring and insolvency, and mergers and acquisitions and regularly participates as a speaker at seminars and conferences organized by Garrigues, Circulo de Empresarios de Galicia, Confederación de Empresarios de Galicia and the Chambers of Commerce of Vigo, Pontevedra and Vilagarcía de Arousa. He also participates in courses and seminars on civil law, criminal law, insolvency law, sports law and family business matters.
Experience
In the civil law field, he routinely acts in court, defending the interests of prestigious companies in Galicia, notably in the areas of construction, transport and fishing. In the criminal law area, he habitually acts in defense of local government officials and members of the Municipal Councils of Vigo, Porriño, Tuy and Nigrán, as well as the Provincial Government of Pontevedra. He has also acted as defense attorney and/or private prosecutor in proceedings relating to economic and environmental crimes involving major companies in Galicia. In the area of restructuring and insolvency, he has extensive experience in transactions concerning construction companies, fish canning companies and shopping centers. He also regularly advises high-profile sports professionals, especially footballers and athletes.
In the commercial law and family business field, he has participated in major corporate mergers and acquisitions and sits on numerous boards of directors of prestigious companies as nondirector secretary, including at Real Club Celta de Vigo, S.A.D. He is currently a deputy of the Governing Board of the Vigo Bar Association, of which he has been a member since 1991.
