**This index is the reference for several social security benefits.**
The evolution of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) led to a 2,6% increase in the indexing reference for social benefits, setting it at 522.50 euros for the year 2025.
So, [Ordinance n.º 6-B/2025/1, of January 6th](https://files.diariodarepublica.pt/1s/2025/01/00301/0000400005.pdf) was published in Portugal’s Official Gazette, increasing the indexing reference for social benefits in 13.24 euros, from 509.26 euros (in 2024) to 522.50 euros (in 2025).
The indexing reference for social benefits is the reference used to establish, calculate and update several social security benefits, such as unemployment benefit.
