Garrigues recognized as an 'Equal Opportunities Employer' by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality

Spain -

Garrigues is one of the 32 entities to achieve this recognition in 2018 and it joins the more than 130 entities noted for their excellence in this area that belong to the #RedDIE network.

The distinction was bestowed at a public ceremony organized by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality on January 29, attended by Minister Dolors Montserrat.

Garrigues is one of the 32 entities to achieve this recognition in 2018 and it joins the more than 130 entities noted for their excellence in this area that belong to the #RedDIE network.

As you will recall, in September the Ministry granted Garrigues this mark of excellence, which acknowledges companies “that notably and significantly excel in the application of equal treatment and equal opportunity policies” through equality measures and plans.

In 2008, Garrigues implemented its first Equal Opportunity Plan, a pioneer in the sector. Year after year, the firm’s Equal Opportunity Committee monitors the measures which, to date, have been measurable. This year, it launched its Second Equal Opportunity Plan, aimed at achieving further progress.

The following measures recently implemented by Garrigues can be highlighted:

  • Garrigues Optimum Plan, which enables people working at the office to reduce their working hours for a period of one year after their maternity/paternity leave, in order to adapt to the needs of their child, without a decrease in their salary.
  • Mentoring Program, aimed at providing support to female professionals to establish valuable relations, as well as tools and methods to assist them with their professional development at the firm.

The distinction is taken into account in the awarding of tenders by the Public Administration, according to the terms and conditions of the LOIEMH (Organic Law 3/2007, of March 22, 2007, on equal opportunity between men and women).

The granting of this distinction of excellence is great news, both internally for our professionals, as well as for our clients and encourages us to continue working on new ways to progress in this field.
