With this accolade, the LatinFinance editorial team recognized Garrigues for its legal counsel in certain landmark financial deals in Latin America during the past year. The awards ceremony held last night in New York, where the US publication is headquartered, brought together the top investors, banks and law firms operating in Latin America. This is the third time Garrigues has won this award, this time for the second year in a row.** LatinFinance cited the firm’s positioning and activity in the region, particularly Garrigues’ work behind three winning projects in Peru: the bonds issue for line 2 of the Lima Metro (“Structured Financing of the Year”) and the December 2018 and June 2019 Peruvian government bond issues (“Local Currency Deal of the Year” and “Sovereign Bond of the Year”). Other Latin American deals made possible through Garrigues’ work and cited by LatinFinance included the launch of the Internet for All initiative in Peru, the listing of Intercorp Financial Services on the New York Stock Exchange, financing for the Ruta del Cacao project and the Sigdo Koppers bond placement. Oscar Arrús and Pedro García Morales, partners with the Peru and Chile offices, respectively, accepted the awards and highlighted the importance of participating in strategic deals with a strong economic and social impact. In the words of Oscar Arrús, “This award recognizes the effort our team makes to take part in the most relevant and innovative deals in the market”. Pedro García Morales added: “It demonstrates that we are seen as a regional and local firm of choice in each country in which we are present”. These accolades help boost the Garrigues’ strategy in Latin America, with its own offices in Bogota, Mexico City, Lima, Santiago de Chile and São Paulo.
