Jorge Salvador Gonçalves has been with Garrigues since December 2016, and is the partner responsible for the Department of Real Estate and Planning.
He was previously legal advisor to the President of the Lisbon Chamber of Commerce (1990-1995) and consultant on Political and Parliamentary Affairs for the Portuguese President (1996-2001); Associate lawyer at Morais Leitão, J. Galvão Teles & Associados (1999-2001); lawyer at Linklaters (2001-2012), acting as person responsible for the practice areas of Real Estate and Planning, as Managing Associate from 2001-2007 and as Partner from May 2007; lawyer at an independent practice, in association with the company Jardim, Sampaio, Magalhães e Silva e Associados (2012-2016), until joining Garrigues.
He has vast experience in the real estate sector, focusing on the areas of investment, asset management and the financing of real estate transactions, as well as land use and planning. He is recognized by investors and financial institutions for his capacity to advise on all legal aspects of the structuring of the most complex transactions in the real estate sector, and on project development, helping clients to mitigate risks and reinforce the success of their operations.
He has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1990.
From July 2016 to July 2020, he was a member of the Portuguese High Council for the Judiciary, elected by the Portuguese Parliament.
