João Soares Almeida is a partner in the employment and social security department.

 

He has extensive experience in corporate restructuring processes, including collective dismissal procedures and elimination of job positions. Over the last decade, he has advised, in the area of  employment and social security law, projects for the acquisition of companies and further introduction of optimization and correction measures in order to have the maximum compliance before the legislation in force.

 

In addition, he advises on salary and working time restructuring processes a recurring basis.

 

He participates in numerous conferences dedicated to employment and social security law. He is a guest lecturer in the Postgraduate course in Labor Law and Social Security at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He participates, as an invited lecturer, in the "Ciclo de Conversas Informais", intended for the training of Labor Inspectors of the Portuguese Labour Inspectorate.

 

Between September 2005 and August 2006, he was a trainee lawyer at the Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira law firm.

 

He has been ranked as a prominent lawyer in the field of Employment Law in the Chambers Europe and Best Lawyers international directories over the last few years.
