Jesús Barbadillo is counsel and head of Transport & Shipping (Litigation and Arbitration practice).
He has extensive expertise in shipping and transport. He specializes in cargo claims, charter parties and bills of lading, marine insurance, wet shipping, civil liability claims, dry shipping, sale and purchase contracts, ship registration and finance.
He also provides recurring advice on corporate, tax and others issues related to shipping and transport law, working together with colleagues from other practice areas and industries.
He is a lecturer in Maritime Law at the Naval Engineering School of the Madrid Polytechnic University, as well as a professor in the LLM Master’s in Shipping Law and Business of the Spanish Maritime Institute (Madrid) and in the Nautical Faculty of Barcelona, among others.
He is a member of the Barcelona Bar Association, the Spanish Maritime Law Association (AEDM) and the International Propeller Club (Madrid).
LLM Master’s Degree in Maritime Law (European Institute of Maritime Studies) and Degree in Law (University of Cádiz, Jerez).
Coauthor of the book on the new “Maritime Navigation Law” (Law No. 14/2014)” published by the AEDM in 2015.
Author of numerous shipping and maritime-related articles published in the Spanish Shipowners’ Association Review, El Vigía, Transportes XXI, Aranzadi, etc., as well as a tutor, speaker and participant in various conferences and seminars concerning Shipping Law at the AEDM, Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Marítimo, Autoridades Portuarias, Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, Escuela de Administración Marítima, Jueces de lo Mercantil de Cataluña, etc.
