David Jiménez leads our energy and infrastructure practice in Mexico.
He advises international and local clients in the areas of project development, project finance, cross-border transactions, government procurement, regulatory issues, and mergers & acquisitions. David represents project developers, sponsors, lenders, private equity funds, contractors and equipment manufacturers in energy and infrastructure projects, as well as in acquisitions and dispositions of projects.
David is a well recognized projects counsel in Mexico and he has been involved in many of the most important projects in the recent past in Mexico.
Experience
David Jiménez has advised both private and public entities in major infrastructure projects in Mexico, including power, oil & gas, transportation, water, social infrastructure, public services concessions, and public-private partnerships (P3/PPP).
Mr. Jiménez has also been involved in major infrastructure privatization processes carried out by the Mexican government, such as sale of equity and assets of state-owned companies, including railroads, satellites, airports, natural gas and in the awarding of public services concessions. David has been assisting and representing multinational companies and consortia to participate in a large number of international public tenders called by the government in Mexico, including the granting of concessions, public works and P3/PPP, as well as in the design, drafting and negotiation of project contracts such as FSA, PPA, EPC, BOP, O&M, AMA and other contracts related with infrastructure.
Likewise, David has participated in the structuring and development of industrial and logistics parks in Mexico, also advising international companies establishing and relocating (nearshoring) businesses in Mexico in all kinds of real estate, contractual, regulatory and financial issues.
As part of his practices, he has been actively involved in M&A transactions in Mexico, representing both international and domestic sellers and buyers.
Mr. Jimenez, together with our team in Mexico and Spain, has represented our clients in commercial international and domestic arbitration procedures related namely to the energy and infrastructure industries.
Academic background
Mr. Jiménez obtained his Law Degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and his LL.M. from the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas.
Teaching activity
Mr. Jimenez has been a law proffesor of graduate and post-graduate studies at the Universidad Ibveroamericana and the Universidad Panamericana, both in Mexico City.
