Garrigues has been named 'International Tax Firm of the Year in the Americas' in the fifteenth edition of the International Tax Review (ITR) tax awards. The ceremony was held online last night due to the special conditions imposed by COVID-19.
Garrigues scooped up the award for “Law Firm of the Year: Spain” handed out every year by the Euromoney journal, the International Financial Law Review (IFLR). This is the seventh time the firm has received this European award in recognition of its work.
Garrigues takes the award for the second year running
Garrigues took the award for Portuguese IP Firm of the Year for the second year running at the annual Global IP Awards organized by the international publications World Trademark Review (WTR) and Intellectual Asset Management (IAM). The firm collected the award last night at the award ceremony in London.
Garrigues was named the law firm of the year for the Andes region, as part of LatinFinance’s Deals of the Year Awards. With this accolade, the LatinFinance editorial team recognized Garrigues for its legal counsel in certain landmark financial deals in Latin America during the past year. The awards ceremony held last night in New York, where the US publication is headquartered, brought together the top investors, banks and law firms operating in Latin America. This is the third time Garrigues has won this award, this time for the second year in a row.
Garrigues received the FT European award for legal innovation in London last night, for creating a new way to help international investors recover non-performing loans (NPL) from financial institutions. The newspaper took into account the huge impact of this legal innovation, which creates a new standard and improves competition and the appeal of the Spanish NPL market, one of the most active in Europe. This new approach, conceived by Garrigues’ Restructuring and Insolvency Department, allows funds to rapidly foreclose, auction and award the assets, saving a great deal of time and money.
Garrigues has won the Gold Award for Best Latin American Law Firm for its outstanding presence in the region and, specifically, for the work of the corporate law practice and its advice on transactions in strategic sectors for the Latin American economy.
Celia Herrero Cantó is the winner of the 2019 Young Lawyers Awards, hosted by Centro de Estudios Garrigues and Fundación Garrigues. Bárbara Montanari and María Rodrigo Muro came in second and third place, respectively. The acting Minister of Justice, Dolores Delgado García, handed out the diplomas at the headquarters of Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
For the second time in a row, Garrigues has been named Transatlantic Independent Law Firm of the Year for its cross-border activity and its regional presence in Europe and America. This award is granted each year by the international media group, ALM, based in the US and the UK, which publishes specialized legal titles, such as The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel or Legal Week.
