Sustainability initiatives are based around Garrigues’ six central commitments: to ethics and good governance; to clients and business development; to people and diversity of talent; to pro bono work and community outreach; to education and research; and to the environment and climate action. “We have been integrating sustainability into our roadmap for many years and this allows us to look to the future with greater confidence. We know that our clients not only appreciate the service we offer but also the way we operate in the wider world and how we respond to its challenges. We know that our people feel proud to belong to an organization that strives to do things right. And we know that this is one of the reasons why 2024 was the eleventh consecutive year of revenue growth at the firm”, explains Fernando Vives, Garrigues’ executive chairman, in his introductory message to the report. The Garrigues 2023-2025 Sustainability Plan reached its halfway point in 2024. This roadmap enables the firm to take a strategic and operational approach to ESG challenges, based on 12 key actions and 32 objectives that reinforce its contribution to a more ethical, responsible and sustainable society. In the words of Fernando Vives, “thanks to the plan, we have made our offices more energy efficient and promoted more responsible consumption, stepping up initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. It has spurred us to redouble our commitment to talent, equality and inclusion, inspired by its guiding principles of ethical commitment, excellence in client service, stakeholder dialog and the well-being of our team.” The report also heralds another milestone: the relocation of the firm’s head office in April 2025 to Torres Colón (Madrid), a building designed to strict energy efficiency standards.
