# Garrigues featured in The Legal 500 Global Green Guide for its contribution to the green transition

**The Legal 500 has published its first ever** [***Legal 500 Global Green Guide***](https://www.legal500.com/global-green-guide/ "https://www.legal500.com/global-green-guide/")**, which showcases the firms with an outstanding contribution to the green transition. Garrigues is one of the three Spanish firms selected from 200 submissions for the list.**
The Green Guide features key firms advising on issues around climate change and sustainability, while also highlighting their internal green initiatives. The inaugural edition explores firms in the EMEA region. The aim is to provide a holistic view on firms’ engagement with sustainability, including both work for clients as well as firms’ own best practices and initiatives.
According to the Guide editor, ”ESG, sustainability, and climate change-related work is a rapidly growing part of law firms’ service offering and business strategy, and firms’ sustainability credentials will become increasingly important.”
**Garrigues in the Guide**
The Legal 500 Global Green Guide recognizes Garrigues’ early engagement with ESG by signing on to the UN Global Compact back in 2002 and drawing up annual reports on carbon emissions since 2004. The guide also cites the firm’s creation, over two decades ago, of [ **G-advisory**](https://www.g-advisory.com/es/ "https://www.g-advisory.com/es/"), and our environmental practice, set up in the 1990s, as well as the leveraging of [**Garrigues Sustainable**](https://www.garrigues.com/es_ES/garrigues-sostenible "https://www.garrigues.com/es_ES/garrigues-sostenible").
In terms of internal efforts, the guide highlights the **Eco-Efficiency Plan** and the role of the ESG Committee headed by Rosa Zarza.
