José Tomás Hirsch is an associate in the Litigation and Arbitration practice. His experience covers international and domestic arbitration, litigation before national courts, insolvency proceedings and dispute resolution mechanisms, with previous experience in major law firms and working with non-governmental organizations. He holds a law degree from Universidad de Chile and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Columbia University.

Jose Tomas Hirsch is a lawyer from Universidad de Chile, with a Masters in Law Degree (LLM) from Columbia University. He joined Garrigues in 2024 as a senior associate, after working at Jana &amp; Gil Dispute Resolution and Bofill Mir &amp; Alvarez Jana, starting in 2018. He previously represented the Chilean Ministry of Public Works in a series of arbitrations initiated by highway concession companies related to the closure of highways during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also represented a Brazilian-French company in an arbitration for an estimated amount of USD $15 million, under the rules of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, related to the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Chile, and he represented a Canadian shareholder of a Chilean mining company, in an ICC arbitration against a shareholder who filed claims for an estimated value of USD $16 million.

Jose Tomas speaks Spanish and English.
