Ignacio Pérez Valero joined Garrigues in 2003. He is currently counsel, and specializes in corporate criminal law. He has extensive experience in legal proceedings involving economic crimes, in particular corporate offenses, offenses against workers’ rights, environmental offenses, planning and zoning offenses, and tax offenses. He also provides advice on the implementation of corporate compliance programs at companies (criminal compliance).

Degree and PhD in law from Universidad de Alicante, Law Faculty, receiving the Special Award both for his law degree and for his PhD. He has lectured on criminal law at Universidad de Alicante since 1995.

He also lectures on the Master’s Degree for access to the legal profession at Universidad Cardenal Herrera CEU, and teaches several specialization courses on practicing criminal law at the Alicante Bar Association.

He has been included on the Best Lawyers list on several occasions in recognition of his work as a criminal lawyer.

PhD in Criminal Law with the distinction of cum laude, Universidad de Alicante (2000). Doctoral thesis entitled “The Corporate Crime of Forgery of Financial Statements under Article 290 of the Criminal Code”.

Periods spent specializing in economic criminal law at the Economic Criminal Law Institute of Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and at the Law Faculty of Università di Pavia in Italy.

Author of several scientific publications on criminal law, in particular the monograph published in 2001 by Tirant lo Blanch “El delito societario de falsedad en las cuentas anuales del art. 290 del CP” (The Corporate Crime of Forgery of Financial Statements under Article 290 of the Criminal Code), and a number of articles, including: “Contrabando y Tráfico de Drogas” (Smuggling and Drug Trafficking). Revista del Poder Judicial. “El problema del límite mínimo en la delimitación del objeto material en los delitos de homicidio y lesiones” (The problem with minimum limits when defining the corpus delicti in homicide crimes and the offense of inflicting injuries). Actualidad Penal. “Los distintos conceptos de delito societario del Código Penal de 1.995” (The different concepts of corporate crime in the 1995 Criminal Code), “Responsabilidad penal de las personas jurídicas y consecuencias accesorias en el Código Penal español” (Criminal liability of legal entities and incidental consequences under the Spanish Criminal Code) (several authors), and various articles in the written press.
